This is my daughter, Elizabeth, almost 9, with her school science project. She built a pinhole camera and took pictures around the yard. She has a good grasp of exposure and was able to explain the pinhole effect well to the class.
It used a small matchbox, which just exactly fit 35mm film. Quite a clever design (not original with us)
We had a fine time working on it. To do some test of concept, esp. the pinhole size, I made a pinhole body cap for my D1X and lugged it around trying out different pinhole sizes, exposures, etc.
Congratulations !! Your daughter is so very fortunate to have you for a teacher and to be starting so young. I wish her the very best !!! I know you are proud of her .
Hi Randy. I have been a judge at the California State Science Fair since 1996. I just love to see the kids get interested in something and learn about it so they can present their projects to others. I continue to judge these fairs (next one coming up in a few weeks!) because it gives me hope for the future! Congratulations to Elizabeth and her teacher.
Al is probably going to make us poke holes in our lens caps now for an assignment... :D
