Default Snowy Egret - Environment image

I know some will not like the environment inclusion (or at least not so much of it), but it is intentional. This image (to me anyway) is as much a "scenic" and "feeling" image as it is an "avian" image. I cropped it high (it is nearly full frame, by the way) in order to include the top of the plant behind the bird, and still leave some space above the plant top. I intended the background/environment to be as much a part of this image as the bird is.

    Canon 1DsMII, ef 600mm f/4, 1/30, ISO 200, f/5

    Bob,

I like the composition, The bird seems a wee bit too bright on my monitor. Thanks for sharing...

Well done, but I might change a few things. The bird is a little bright (the pixels on his head are almost 255,255,255), and guessing from the rest of the image (and the 1/30th SS) this wasn't in full sunlight. I think if you're going to make an image and try to present the environment as much a part of it as the avian element, you need a little more DOF. I'd like to see the background more in focus. That would most likely require bumping your ISO to 400, changing your aperture to let's say f/10 and hoping that little fella' doesn't move!

Nice job on the exposure. Im not a huge fan of the dark BG.

I like it Bob, its more of an honest and informative image than Egret completed isolated with a 600 at F4 with a smooth creamy background. Its not pretty but I think its interesting. The lightening is soft.
The whites are a little hot but thans easy to fix. Also I would crop out the branch at the upper left corner.
