    From this morning. This one has a little morsel. 50D, 400/5.6 at 5.6, 1/750, EC +1, ISO400. Same location as yesterday, , Boundary Bay, BC.

    Nice low angle and pose. I love the breeding plumage. The bird looks oversharpened to me. There is a sharpening halo around the head and beak. Was the bird on a slope? If not, it could use a little ccw rotation.

    Light, eye contact and angle look good. Adding to Aidan's suggestions, I would tone down the whites a bit more.

    Good critiques above. I would add that the bird's head is angled slightly away from you--slightly towards you is usually much better You did a good job of getting close and isloating your subject.

    Thanks for the comments and critigues guys. It was a fun morning being surrounded by these birds. It was a flat mud/sand flat so I must have been out of level. Darn sharpening is one way or the other. Tks Dave

    Lovely detail on the little guy, and agree the whites could be toned down slightly. Great low angle of capture too.
