Captured in Costa Rica with Greg Basco and Doug Brown in mid day light:cool:. Heavy crop in CS3. I shot a burst (sort of! 6fps?) and as the bird was coming at me, this is the only frame that my slow focusing lens caught sharp:(. The rest are closer but way OOF:(. Oh well:p

Nice action. It looks as though the bird is lacking some detail, probably due to the heavy crop. If it agrees with your ethics, I would remove the branches in the BG.

I sometimes feel the same way about my 100-400 when I encounter a situation such as this.

Neat looking bird Dan. From my experience, considering the conditions you did well getting one in focus. The bits of trees are kinda of a bother and might be worth a try to crop out the left one. Dave

    Dan:

I have a 80=400 too, and although I have taken some nice pictures with it, BIF head on is not its strong suit.

I think you did well to get this one.

Have you up dated your firmware to the latest version? It did help with the D300 focusing.

    Cheers

    Randy

Pretty amazing no matter the crop. It looks like some sort of Muppet....

Super headon shot. Have you got one with the wings open. Well captured.
