Green Heron at Gilbert Water Ranch (Gilbert, Arizona) -- Behavior Shot

I had just spooked this Green Heron from the pond below and he flew up to this branch. He was keeping an eye on me but something got his attention and he stretched waaay out. I had never seen this behavior in the Green Heron and gave a slight chuckle at the drawn out neck.

The tip of the beak is covered with spider web or something. I blew up the raw to verify that.

Super pose captured Scott. He could be aware of a raptor if he was looking up. You have exposed the colours on him nicely, and love the bright yellow eye.

It is an interesting behaviour Scott. Nice and sharp, which is sometimes hard to do in the bushes. A head turn your way would have been great.

The stretched neck alone is a keeper here Scott. Tell Rich hi for me.
