    Gary:

Very nice. The female doesn't look to please about this, kind of bored looking, like here we go again.

Technicals of picture are good, despite the back lighting. The overall light must have been pretty soft to maintain the exposure balance you captured. I think the transillumination of the far wing of the male is very effective, helps to frame the female.

Timing excellent, nice background. The perch is a bit too 'hand of man' for my tastes, and in a perfect world would have preferred a different one, but thats where they live! Far preferable to the ugly metal nesting boxes in some of my photos!!

    Well done.

    Randy

A special moment captured here Gary. I like the open wing, and the slightly raised claw. Great image Gary.

I like all the pluses mentioned above, but the poor head angle with the male and his near-wing position leave me wishing. With his near wing fully raised and a good HA you would have had a winner.

Actually, it is a toss-up. The male in the second one surely has a better head angle but the light is harsher and you have lost the backlit far wing. The winner would have been with both wings swept back. A lot to ask? Yes, but only by striving for perfection (that is rarely if ever attained in bird photgraphy) will we improve.

I like both of your shots although I find the first one a little warm and the second one a little cool. I like the comp in the first shot a little better.

Hi, I like the first one more because of the soft light an the light shining throug the wing. I can understand the things Artie said, but still like your image and would be really happy if it would be mine!
