    Default Fox Kit portrait

I got lucky with a location on a fox den. My friends let me know that they would be moving in another day or two so I hot-footed it over to get a few pictures. It seemed that afternoon was the time to see the kits at their most active. Unfortunately, some kids saw the den too and they were very skittish. It did get this portrait of 2 of the kits. Taken with Canon 40D, 100-400mm L, Aperture priority, ISO 400, F5.6, 1/340th on tripod. My first time photographing a fox den! I cropped in for a vertical look. Comments welcomed!

A very cute pose. I think I would crop a little from the bottom. How did your friends know they would be moving from the den? Were they correct?

Thanks! Apparently, they see them for about a week every year. They live in the city and there are some apartment buildings up the hill from them and the kids always discover the den and the foxes move. Yes they moved.

Cute pups but a busy composition... Cropping tighter may help in that regard...

Congrats on your first fox den shoot. Cute little things. I'd be tempted to crop out more of the bottom to remove some of the brighter FG elements.

Thanks for the tips. I have re-cropped and cloned out some distracting elements. I hope this looks better.

I like the repost you did. Puts more focus on the kits.

I like the tighter crop. It puts more emphasis on the kits.
