My first look at a Swainson's Thrush which I photographed at Madera Kubo B&B yesterday while looking for the Flame-colored Tanager which is way overdue this year. Will be staying there for 2 days, so we are hoping we will be lucky and Mr. Flame will join us.
Was a bit tough to photograph, as I had to shoot though a lattice to get him spotlighted on a large rock.

Hi Gus I like the placement and how you worked the distracting branches away from the bird. Might want to run a little Gaussian blur over the bg .... just enough so it seem that a 2.8 lens was used wide open.
btw the sharpest part of the bird seems to be the base of the wing !!! Good luck with the tanager !!!
For me the bird and perch work really well; nice to have a rock and not a branch all the time. The bg does seem to distract unfortunately, especially as the position of the bird leads the eye directly to the bg.
Good luck with the tanager.
Cheers
Gail
