This feels very dramatic to me both because of the foot action and the tack sharpness. Like the perch.
The sky has some faint yellowish areas on both sides. If one wanted a "perfect" high key image, would the sky be totally flat white without any structure?
Cheers

I would suggest cropping the top about 1/2 way and maybe changing the background color. I like the shot, but it doesn't look real the background is too dominant for me
Might be a neat shot for the critter contest this week. Do a little PS on it and see what happens.
I personally love high-key images; they remind me of Audubon's prints and paintings by Roger Tory Peterson in his quides. It is also is an excellent method of isolating the subject from background distractions. The problem with this image is the uneven lighting. It seems like the best method for high-key would be to have the subject completely backlit, or ideally shoot on an overcast day. As far as composition I would position the birds eye at one of the intersection points suggested by the rule of thirds. In other words, 1/3 from both the top and left border. regards~Bill
It's always interesting to hear differing opinions of images and on this one I agree with Bill in that I love high-key and they also remind me of Audubon images. I really like it as presented and might like it better cropped as suggested. I'd take it in a heartbeat!
