i normally always shoot in manual because my backgrounds are constantly changing. i will watch the ambient light and make changes as it changes. i always watch my histograms. i will usually take a test shot when i get to an area that i will be working. after that first look at the histogram, i am dialed in. just check it regularly.

thanks for looking. comments and critiques appreciated.

Excellent composition, image and capture Doctor...I like the ultra low capture angle and the color rendition and fine details...Love the action here...my only suggestion would be to crop from the bottom up to where the oof wave brakes...well done...congrats...you too must have used the belly shot in the sand...:D:)

Interesting shot Harold. Your exposure looks perfect. Great light. Are they migrating north right now? Just saw a show on these guys, and this guy looks really healthy.

    Hi Harold,
I am with you on this, i am also on manual 90% of the time. Low angle is great and beautiful colors on the bird. I think it needs some CCW rotation.

Harold, I really like this. The bird partly in the water is great! Exposure looks great and I love the colors.

H, love the diffused bg, eye contact and low angle.
