I shot this early in December after our first snow and before I esaped to Florida. The crop was about a 1/3 of the raw size and I removed a couple of offending branches. Criticism welcome.

Nice image and head position, and a sharp eye looking at us. I like the juxtaposition of the snow, and I have seen very few cardinals in Toronto in the winter. The diagonally crossing foreground OOF branch is a bit distracting, but might be hard to clone out. I think a vertical crop might work, overall, and perhaps leave only a small amount of this branch to deal with. I'd also take a fair bit off the top. I've done a quick crop and clone (very cursory-no time right now) to try out the vert.

I love the high key as backdrop for the red bird. Since he is looking to our right, you should have oriented the crop placing him to our left of the image.

Great contrast between the red of the bird, and the snow. I agree with Fabs regarding the comp.
