    Default Wild Gray Wolf

This was a throw away shot that I just couldn't delete. On a backpacking trip in Denali National Park, this curious female wolf trotted out of the brush to check me out, but was just a bit too close to focus on with the 300mm. I took a couple of shots anyway. She was not snarling, but simply clearing her throat when this image was taken.
Full frame with crop off the right.

Like it. Resurecting throwaways is fun, especially when they turn out better, maybe, than the original.

    Nice job.

John, I just love that this is a wild wolf!!Amazing eye!! I really like the way it's framed, adds to the feel. My only thought is the second eye-might darken that area a bit.Very nice choice of effects-BTW Congrats on your IOTW win!!!

This guy is pretty mean looking John. I like the light in the image and the dry brush effect you have used. Love the look in his eye too. Looks like you were pretty close!

Good save, John! Like the piercing gaze and the filters you used. I do wish there was a bit more room at the bottom, but that's a minor nit. Well done!

I like it John. It reminds me of a book illustration style, like you might see in a Jack London novel. Nice capture.

    Thanks for the comments everyone.

Good eye, Denise (no pun intended). I never noticed the funky look about the wolf's right eye until you mentioned it-then I couldn't take "my" eyes off of it-so here is a rework. It's not perfect, but headed in the right direction.

A nice re-work John. Wolves are my favorite creature to image. A bit more room all the way around would be nice if you have it.
