Love the eyes. That look could bore holes right through you. I also like that you have enough depth of field to have good details from beak to the back of the head. The composition works for me. All in all I like this very much. Thanks for sharing.

In your face at its best Dave. Incredible detail on the head, and so sharp. Great capture.

Very cool incoming capture. I like crop and BG, too, and might make it a tad darker and sharpen the bird more.

Thanks for the comments guys:) I guess I may have inadvertently been on the clone tool instead of the zoom tool at some stage? Anyway, well spotted Daniel:D

Sorry Dave, I meant to comment on my heron and ended up on your BV! Great posture, in your face photography at its best:-). Like the diagonal line of the composition very much! Would have liked slightly more detail in the darks, but I know how difficult the light can be at Giants Castle..

Excellent in your face capture, with great impact and detail. As far as the composition, I'd have placed the head more to our left since he seems to be going to our right. NOt sure if you have the room.

Thanks to all for looking and for comments.
Fabs the bit that I did crop was on the top and left, so the only way that I could the head more to the left would be to crop more. I tried to get the head as close as possible to the top 1/3 intersection.

I would love to have seen the head at the bottom left intersecting point looking up. It is however, still fabulous, pretty sharp and very imposing. Congrats! :)
