Of all the Ecuadorian hummingbirds I have seen (over 70 species now!) I think this is my favourite. Their irridescence has to be seen to be believed. At just the right angle their front explodes with a beautiful purple colour. But I wanted to post this one because I thought it was a cool pose and because you very rarely see the irridescence of the back of this bird.

Off into the jungle I go for another 2 week mission to Sumaco N.P.

    Cheers!

I have often said that we see more detail from the top, and you have done just that. Amazing posture, love the fanned tail, with the angled head towards the flower. Very well captured Glenn.

The pose is very cool. I would give it more room and the blocked blacks on the neck have been mentioned.

Fantastic pose, with the fanned tail and back showing colors. Wish the eye was more visible, it gets lost in all that black.

Hi Glenn: What a great pose you captured here. The prop (flower) is gorgeous also. Love the way the wings are flapping in while the tail is extended. It seems the catchlight in the eye looks a little off. Other than that, this is a winner.
