    Default Audubon's Oriole



    Hey all, wanted to share a pic from our recent week in the Rio Grande Valley of Texas.
    had a great trip all in all.
    Only saw one of these deep south specialties and that was on the first day at Sabal Palm Grove in Brownsville.

    D300 + 1.4x + 500 F4 AFS-I

    Exposure: 1/80
    Aperture: f/6.3
    Focal Length: 700 mm
    ISO Speed: 250
    Exposure Bias: -1/3 EV
    Flash: On

    i like this shot of the very colourfull bird,sharp.. and a nice BG make the bird stand out well. regards sten

    Like the pose and the sharp details - on my screen the yellows look like they could use some toning down, if you were so inclined might try and tone down some of the brighter area's of the Background. And removing the two twigs that stick up in front of the bird - if that fits with your personal ethics as far as PS work goes.

    Nice image. The bird's pose and details are good. The blacks under the throat appear to be blocked but this is a small area and doesn't distract too much for me. If it were mine I would try taking a bit off the bottom and perhaps add a little at the top (if you have it).

    Very cool Paul.. I got a quick shot of one when I was down at the end of March but the BG was not clean at all. They are elusive !!

    Thanks for the comments everyone, The hardest part of getting this shot was waiting for a moment when it wasn't sitting next to an orange slice!
    From what I understand, they are quite hard to see when not at a feeder for some reason.

    I will consider all suggestions when re-processing this shot at some point in the future.
