This was taken late in the afternoon. The Egret was in the shadow. Here are the settings -

    40D, Sigma 50-500mm @ 500mm
1/400 sec, f/6.3 Mode: Av Metering: Evaluative Exp comp: -2/3 ISO: 1000

Would like to get some feedback.

I like it. The angle of the Egret's neck and head, and the complimentary angle of the water splash. Great!

    Good timing...

I like the captured moment and details but am not so sure about the crop. I might crop a tad off the top and bottom.

I like the fresh and interesting perspective. The water drops are a plus. The branch in the UL Corner is a small distraction, but I wish the white reflection in the lower right were a bit darker.

It looks good Indranil. The eye does seem a little soft. The water splash on the other hand appears sharp. I think since you don't have the two legs, you ought to try and crop in front of the bit that remains. Congratulations for catching the peak of the action! :)

I feel it looks a little better. But I am definitely no expert. :) Thanks for posting.

You are of what you like! ;)

I would have to go with the first one on the cropping of the top personally. I think removing the open area crowds the bird a little too much. I think the bottom crop is OK however. But that's my $0.01 worth, probably not worth that in this economy! :) Nice shot however you crop it.

All has been covered. Beautiful splash and excellent exposure Indrani. Thanks for sharing
