    Default THe moment of impact

Kind of out of the box for me, but for some reason I sort of like this one.

I applied a little extra motion blur to the wings and then sharpened the whole thing a HUGE amount to accentuate the power and motion. Then a bit of noise reduction on the background.

Jim, This does have a good feel to it, and I like it-the added sense of motion is nice! Really neat to see one get so close to the water!

Simply fantastic. Like the way the water is splashing against the bill.
Nice effect with motion blur & selective sharpening.
The ghosting near the wings add to the drama. Was this obtained with motion blur in PS too ?

Thanks folks. Yes, as I mentioned in the original post, I applied a bit of extra motion blur to the wings.

Great sense of tension in this Jim. Just enough motion blur added to the wings for more drama. Looks like the landing gear is almost down on the far side adding to the tension. Interesting shot and never would have thought to have added sharpening and blur at the same time:)

    Thanks Jackie.

I find that adding a lot of sharpening to motion blurred images, especially if there is any panning involved actually increases the sense of motion. I use 500% and move the radius way up until I get something I like.

thanks for the sharpening tip, jim! that's good stuff. the image is killer and definitely ootb!! you pulled the trigger at just the right time. i love the sharpness where it counts and the blur on the wings. the light is sweet! i could only imagine what the finished RAW looks like on a big monitor. gotta be sweet!!
