Lots of PS work here. I selected and separated the bird, the feeder, and the background. They all got different treatments of course. The feeder was toned way down as it was flaming red. The bg was my gray house but I borrowed a bg from the back yard, where the feeders have nice green foliage behind them, and substituted for the gray exterior. The bird was sharpened and adjusted in CS4, and the original image converted in LR2.

I would do this sort of extra PS work for special shots only just like this one. I tink the image is wonderful, love that little Hummer. So sweet and fragile looking. Did I also say sharp? I love every bit of it and your PP work is fabulous! :)
Hi Kerry - agree with Gus's comments - but for me - it just has a little of that cut out type feel to it - hard to describe - the PS work is good, just has that feel to me at least :)
Kerry, Nice image but I do agree w/ Lance that cut-out look is still slightly present. Looks like you got a very good shot of this one. But man you did a great job with the PP!!!Would love to see the original.
I think the org looks much better...You did very good PP with the first one but you can see a slight halo around parts of the bird that is very similar to over sharpening. A very fine photo non the less.
Hi Kerry, can you PP only the bird just short of the point where it looks cut-out. The first post of the bird is magnificent; would like to see that bird on the original background. Cheers, Jay
Kerry, Thankyou for posting the original. Kerry sometimes you can defringe the edges instead of using the refine edge in the selection menu-not sure which one you did but the orig. BG isn't that bad either. The image in my opinion is worth a second look.
