Default Drifting through the colours - Brown Pelican.

Estero Lagoon, February. Man, I'm still discovering and post processing images from Artie's IPT this past winter. I love the reflected colours here...different from the whites and blues that I had with virtually every other pelican image. There was one much paler vertical streak on the right side that I toned down to match the rest of the BG.

Canon 40D + 100-400L @320mm, aperture priority, evaluative metering, 1/500s., f/9, ISO 400, +0.3 EC, natural light, handheld, full frame.

Daniel, I was attracted to the colored water at Estero also. This shot is Birds as Art! To me it resembles a painting that might have been done by a 17th century master. Simple yet very elegant.

This is a lovely image. I really like the way the colors of the bird play against the varying shades of background. May have been able to crop a tad off the left side, but great as is. Congrats.

    Daniel:

Lovely image, cropped perfectly for my taste. Very sharp, right on the edge of overly sharp, but not over the edge! Colors are very complimentary.

    Its a beauty!

    Thanks for sharing.

Great colors! Nice detail in the bird and I like the tip of the bill touching the water.

Serenity at its best Daniel. Comp works well, and this is really sharp. The pelican stands out very well from the darker BG too. Congrats on an outstanding image.

I like the light, mood and composition but might sharpen a bit less.

    Hi Daniel!

The very direct eye contact against the moody and complementary background does it for me. Very appealing image.
