This is another of my backyard regulars that I photographed on Georgia's rare snow day. Not a great image but I like the mood--- it was Cold. The dark vertical mass is a tree. There was no way to avoid it, I was locked in my position.

    C & C welcome.

I like the fluffed up plumage and snow on the perch. Too bad about the trunk in the BG. I find the big snowflake underneath the eye a bit distracting.

Very moody image, Axel was very assertive in his comments, as usual, and I agree on them. Nice perch too!

This captures the feeling well. I like the snow on the perch but it looks a little too hot and there is a very prominent halo on the top edge on the right. The flight feathers and tail look oversharpened to me so would probably reprocess with some selective sharpening. I would probably try some selective lightening around the eye and base of beak.

I like the mood and placement of subject. But dark background kind of iffy for me.

Roy I like the birds pose and the perch. I may have cropped some off the bottom of the frame.

Glad that you were out in the snow to create this image. It's very rare to photograph this species in the snow, as their winter range is largely snow free. It looks like a pretty heavy crop, or perhaps the sharpening was just too aggressive...as the details in the feathers are a bit muddled. Nice work Roy!

    Hello Judd

Unfortunately I was not out in the snow. While in Georgia, almost all of my small backyard birds are photographed through a glass door. ..... Unavoidable in this house. In addition, due to shaded conditions, I'm always using a high ISO which accounts for the excessive noise and the extra glass degrades the image and negatively affects the sharpness. Did I mention my poor post-processing skill? But it's still fun until I can get back down to South Florida and the 'Glades.

    Hope to see you soon.

    Roy
