    This place looks like it's an alien landscape. Many mineral deposits which create different bands of color. I believe the place is located in Escalante. The 2 times I was there it was mostly overcast with the sun breaking out for short periods. In this image I exagerated the colors and added a small bit of tonal contrast(NiK)

    I like the layers and stacked look with just the bit of sky at the top. Interesting perspective which adds to the "other-worldly" look.

    The Grand Staircase-Escalante is a beautiful area in Utah for those of you who are wondering.

    Dave, I've never been there-hope to someday! I really like the different colored layers-which brings you right up to the top. The color palette is fantastic!

    agree, the layers are really cool. makes you wonder how many millions of years it took to create this scene.

    Really like the bands of colour and find my eye goes from bottom to top. Looks like a beautiful place Dave. Are these clay deposits???

    Hey Jackie, The main mineral is called Bentonite. It has a powdery, crunchy feel when you walk on it.
    I'm sure there are other types of minerals but I'm at a loss for the types.
