That had to be fun to see. Great action and behavior capture for sure. I wish I could make out the snake more clearly, and I'd like a little bit more room ahead of the gull in the direction of movement.

Wow! Talk about perfect timing! I am curious... Was this a single image or the best of several exposures taken at high speed? I don't know the FPS speed of the D40, but I can say that either way, I wish this image were mine. If it were, I'd increase the contrast slightly and submit it in the 800px to show the details better. (I tried this in PS and for me it works.)

    God bless.....Dick

Wonderful capture and perfect COMP. (Is the above a crop?) I too wish for 800 pixels and a view of the snake. Do you have any others that clearly say "snake"? Looks like there is a slight magenta cast...

Wonderful action you captured and great timing. I really love images like this and the repost certainly gives us the sense of the size of the sea snake. Thanks for sharing this exciting capture. Nits mentioned!!

    fantastic and original image!

seeing the snake more clearly would be nice, but it is what it is.

 Great action Manos! Obviously it could have been beter technically, but this is not an opportunity that you can plan for or try over and over agian (unless the gulls inGreece catch sea snakes all the time...) Very well done!!!

You know Manos, I'm not sure the image "without wings" doesn't work. I think that image says it all and the point of it - doesn't need anymore wings than it has, to convey it. This is not a chum shot, this is real behavior rarely if ever seen, never mind photographed. Can you treat us all to an 800 pixel rendition?

Personally I think I prefer the image with more of the snake - from a biological point of view I think it is the more powerful of the two

I agree, the second one, with wingtips clipped works well. Great work.

I'm so glad that I ventiured over here and saw this one. Magnificent action.......and a fantastic job of capturing the moment. Given that I have a fear snakes.......I'm impressed even more.......and give a nod of approval to the gull as well.
