I photographed an enormous flock of these birds at the Forsythe NWR in New Jersey several weeks ago but, not being a birder, I don't know what they are.
You witnessed a nice flock of Brant (plural = Brent??). The Brant is a small goose that loosely resembles the Canada Goose but without the white cheeks, and with a "Nike-like swoosh" on the neck.
