    Default Song Sparrow

Last week I had a chance to photograph this song sparrow singing away in a bush. The BG is more cluttered than I would like, and I wish there wasn't a shadow across the bird's back. Still, I would like to hear your opinions on it. Do you think it's any good?

    Olympus SP-550 UZ
    f4.5 @ 1/640, ISO 100
Program mode, pattern metering, auto WB
Processed in PS CS2; cropped, curves adjustment, ran noise reduction on BG, cloned out several small twigs at the bottom, and selective sharpened the eye a bit

    Hi Christopher,
I like the capture, your bird has a good head angle with a sharp clear eye...the color rendition on the bird is good...the background is a bit busy, but lets just call it natural habitat...the shadow cast by the branch on the bird can be cloned in by adding some texture to eliminate it...I would also clone out the thick branch going through the bird's head...looking forward to seeing more...try doing the corrections and repost...I would like to see the final version...

HI Chris - as Gus mentioned BG is a bit busy - Llining the sun up behind you will help alleviate problems with shadows - yep you can try to correct is P.S. but the more you get right in the camera the less time you spend in P.S. afterwards.

    Keep them coming :)

H Chris Agree with comments .... also yours The bird in mixed light will always be problematic... other than that try finding an opening to minimize the branch merges. These little guys are tough !!!

Thanks guys. I agree totally with your comments. Unfortunately this was the only shot I was able to get with a good HA and no branches covering the bird. I'll do want I can to fix it in PS and hopefully get a better shot next time.
