    Default Fox Kit

I have lived in Central Fl. my whole life and today I discovered my first fox den. The light or lack there of was due to on and off rain and no sun at all. Did the best I could under the circumstances since this was just happenstance. I captured numerous playing, staring directly at me and lying around images of the 6 young pups as well as mom before she wandered off. Even though the baby isn't looking at me her gaze captivated me when looking through the view finder. The positive note is I will be going back when I have some pretty light.

Removed the tip of a leaf that was near her face.

    Mike,
Great discovery. It is fun to watch these playful fellows. I like the pose and the looks. Look forward to more.

The lack of a direct look does not distract at all from the overall composition. I like the muted light.
Good luck on your return to the den.

I also like the pose. Keep in mind that the vixen will move the kits to another den if she is bothered by your presence so be careful and respect her space.

I believe this is her secondary den as I found another one which appeared unoccupied about 100 yards away. It took me 1/2 hour to approach once I saw the mother. I would hide behind a tree, move forward, lie on the ground, move forward, repeat. Once I got to a vantage point that offered a somewhat unobstructed angle I hid behind a tree. She was aware of me but seemed comfortable enough that she laid down and went to sleep and I fully understand your concern about bothering them.

Love the pose, Mike. IMO, the fact that the kit is not simply staring at you, but rather is looking intently at something in its environment adds a lot of interest to the image.

Posing like a paid model. Excellent Mike, and this is really sharp. I like the softer colours in the BG too. Congrats.

Extremely sweet image, you captured the curiosity of the kit perfectly. I think you could come in tighter on this one, just to further draw attention to baby's face. Please do post more of these.

I like the look and feel of this a lot. The fact that the kit is looking up is a fresh perspective and a big plus to me. Only nit is the bright area above the head. I would try to minimize or remove it.

    Mike,
Who said you always had to have eye contact? I truly love the inquisuitive look on the kit's face and cannot wait to see more shots that are taken in somewhat better light.

Mike, this fox is simply adorable. I like the color of his eyes, and the sleep in his eyes! You captured great detail in his fur and his whiskers! I would love to lay my eyes on one of these wonders of nature!
