It looks a little "rough" to me, perhaps the pp'n. Taken today with a 50D, 400/5.6 at 5.6, Better Beamer, 1/500 and ISO400.

Nice sharp image with nice colors. My only wish would be for a cleaner background. But you could not help that.

I don't mind the background as none of the reeds intersect with the bird. The exposure looks good with good details. The bird appears a little over sharpened to me. Thanks for sharing.

A classic wren pose, Dave. I like the comp, the exposure looks good, and I'm OK with the background. I might remove the wispy "thing" at the tip of the beak. If this was mine, I would clone out the flash-generated catchlight and leave the natural one. Well done.

very nice Wren Dave. I'm not bothered by the background at all, but I would also likely try and remove whatever is coming of the bill. It looks a tad over sharpened to me also.

A wren in its habitat. Nice enough for me- well taken.

I like the shared tones of bird and habitat.

Thanks for comments everyone. The "rough" look must be due to over sharpening. Tks. I had not noticed the catch light/flash issue but will keep a look out for it in future. I kind of liked the habitat look and colours also.
    Regards, Dave
