    Default Black on Black

    This is a Black Vulture taken at Sunset (Bronze Light) but the Sky was a Blah Grey so I Colored it Black.



    1D MK III and Naked 500/4 lens, Handheld

    ISO 1250
    SS 1/640
    Exp +1 2/3
    F 5.6

    Crop from Landscape full Hieght
    Darkened Sky to Black
    Ran Level and Adjusted Curves to Slight S
    USM after resizing

    Really like the black. Very dramatic.

    Hi Gary I like it a lot Got lots of these guys but never thought about turning the bg ... does set them up well !!! btw will be moving to OOTB since the sky has been altered !! Excellent image !!!

    Gary, I really like the black BG it looks very dramatic! The bronze coloring on the wings is very nice also. Your drop shadow looks good also. Well done.

    Thank You both very Much, The Dull Grey Sky added nothing to the Image as it had no real Features, This Technique is becoming popular in Africa!!!

    Yes VG low-key Gary:). Great BG for a dark bird. Neat lighting all the way 'round.

    Gary, this presents really nicely. Love the natural light on the bird and the black bg really brings out the low-key colors. Well done!
