Another sunset return to the evening roost. Just a little later, with darker sky. Again, this is about 40% of original (really needed more lens).

    David:

Lovely soft light, nice background, wingspread, good exposure.

I know the title is turning for home, but I wish for a bit more head turn towards us, and not home :)

Since you have the canvas, I might add just a bit top, bottom and front.

The crop and ISO are showing up in some softness of the details.

Overall though, I like the 'feel' of the image.

    Thanks for sharing!

Hi David !! Good comments by Randy

I didn't see the exposure compensation? ... guessing the histogram was a little underexposed For these some fill flash also works well.

I just love the color of the sky and bird in this image as well as the shape of the bird in flight. Well done.

Just wondering... did you use a high dose of noise reduction? The softness in the detail underneath the wing looks like the effect from aggressive noise reduction. With the camera you are using, I would think even a 40% crop would still make for lots of detail. Maybe it's just the softness of that wonderful light causing this effect.

Thanks everyone for the helpful input. Actually, it was exposed all the way to the right and I pulled it back considerably during raw conversion because of earlier comment on lightness of colors. The lack of detail is due to the crop (maybe even more than stated - have to check), but it was also soft light. Noise is usually not a big problem if I expose to the right as we are all taught.

Hi David, Nice lighting. I agree a it looks a touch soft, and I can see a slight halo around the wings.
