    Default SD card problem

Went shooting yesterday and filled up most of a 4gig card. When trying to put images on to computer, it stated that there were only 89 images and all but 1 were corrupt. I scanned the card looking for problems with some program and it said there were 499 images on it. Put the card back into my camera and it said there were 89 with only one that it could read.

I was shooting with my D80. a couple of problems were happening while I was shooting, not sure if they are related. I had both batteries fully charged but sometimes it would die with the low battery sign flashing, if I turned it off then back on it would be fine for a while. Then it would flash F-- like there was no lens attached, and again a quick off-on would fix it. While this was going on I was missing shots of green jays and pyrruloxias, so I was a little bummed, but I think I got some good stuff, until I got back and realized I could not retrieve my images, then I was really bummed.

I think I already know the answer, but is there any way to get my images back?

I need to smash something over this, so should it be the camera or the card?

    Thanks

    Dan,

Hold on, there's hope. You will need two items. Image Rescue 3 software and a card reader. The software you can get from www.lexar.com There is also another program called PhotoRescue - just Google it to find it.

Attach the carder reader to your computer then insert the SD card. Then open the software. It should "see" your images and download them for you.

After you have verified the images have been downloaded, are useable, and have backed up copies on another HD, then format the SD card in your camera. The SD card should be OK.

Let us know how it goes!

Thanks Don, I will look into that. I was hoping not to spend any more, but it might be worth it for future problems. I made up for my lost images the next day! Thanks again.
