This was taken on Good Friday, in the early morning, at a spot in Pretoria. These guys are pretty fast fliers, but in this he was coming in to land.

Hi Stuart, nice flight pose on this duck. Exposure and composition are good too. Nice colours on the BG, although I would probably tone down the white streaks at bottom (without completely eliminating them). The body looks sharper than the head area - some selective USM on the head may improve this, and as posted I would work on the eye (e.g. make the pupil more visible, and reduce the reflection in it a bit.). An enjoyable image to view :-)

Great comp and exposure. Looks a tad soft on my screen. Nice one Stu

Thanks a stack Daniel and Kobus. I have had a look at my original, and I feel my ss has let me down in this. With only 1/400, Im on a loss, and Ive tried to sharpen the head, but I lose IQ. Oh well, lets go out and get me a better one.

Nice work Stuart, colours and sharpness are very good. Maybe just a bit more room around the wing tips and a bit of sharpness on the head like Daniel mentions.

I like this a lot. Can you post the original and let us know which AF sensor you used. I am betting that it was the central sensor and that it was on the bird's rear neck or upper breast. I happen to love the image, the wing position, the EXP, and the blurred wing tips. A bit of a crop from the bottom might work.

Art, Arthur, thank you so much for your input.

Arthur, when I get home, I will look to see where the focus point was, and send you a pm.
