oops, forgot my question on this image. I have picked up my camera lately after taking a couple months break. And I just can't seem to get things right. This image was very washed out and gray looking, straight from the camera. I don't understand why. It was at 8:45 a.m. so the light was bright but not too harsh. I had to do a lot more color adjusting on this image than usual, and it still doesn't "grab me". I would love to hear your comments.

Hi Cheryl The light was good but there is not much color to begin with !!!

The surrounding area including the water do not look very natural, particularly when comparing to the original. Tried color balancing the re post to see what It would look like ... also did the original and it was similar

Yes, I think I did overdo the color on my first post. I just didn't see it as so drab. Perhaps it was just me being exciting about being there that it looked more intense to me.

suggestions on how to shoot this better? I hope to go out again before sunrise Monday.

cheryl, my suggestion for next time is to keep in mind the light angles. just like birds, i think you want to see the face and most of the subject lit. a pleasing habitat is always a bonus too. dont try to fill the frame with the subject. leave some room to show it's habitat.

good luck. cant wait to see what you get!!
