I'm looking for some help on my composition. Not sure how to compose for tight shots like this without the entire body. My instincts tell me to trim from the right, but not sure. Thanks for your input.

    Hi Grace:
I like your image as presented, although you might find that some will like the tighter crop, on this particular image I like it the way it is because of the nice contrasting BG that shows off your subject very nicely. You have great details and the eye contact of the egret is with his meal.
    Congrats,

I like the dark and light contrast Grace. If it were mine I would crop to pano and take more off the top. Seems to make it more dramatic to me and you still have quite a bit of dark water on the left.

Hi Grace One thing that will determine the crop is the need to show behavior ... so I would crop to a square (or close) Don't need much of the back showing and want to see the catch better !!!!

    Hi Grace,
I like the action here...I would recommend on cropping this into a square, to make it tighter in frame and thus placing more attention on the fine details of the catch...the whites are running a bit on the warm side, my consider toning them down...looking forward to your next one...

Hi Grace...I also feel you caught some nice action. The pleasing backround adds to the strength of the image. I cropped a bit off the top and added canvas to the bottom. I wanted more space for the droplets to fall into since they add to the drama of the story.

Thanks Everyone! Great suggestions, just the help that I was looking for. The square crop and the added canvas on the bottom is perfect.
