The lions of the Kgalagadi are in my opinion the most magnificent specimens in Africa!

Unbelievably I have yet to visit the Kgalagadi, an oversight I intend to correct this year. The best Lions I have seen to date were in Hwange, unfortunately a lot of these are collared for "research".

This is nice looking animal, but I think the presence of the shadows distract from the image which is a great shame. I wonder if a crop around the head shoulders and front legs be better, but then I also like the environment in the picture.

    Chris,
This is a lovely image. Seems to be a fine specimen. I love the looks, sharpness and colours. Thanks for sharing.

I agree on the shadows but this is really great light and I like that look in its eyes.

Great shot. I like the light and the eyes. I also like the shadow as well, gives some depth to the image.

    Another nice image Chris.
Great light, comp and saturated colours! Like Ken, I need to see this region also and plans are in the pipeline for 2011.

Great lion with a good alert expression. The shadows don't bother me. Frankly, I like the spot light effect on his face - fit for a king!

Very nice full body portrait, with great light. I''d like him more to the right of the frame.
