This old abandoned bedroom in Bodie, California, is in a state of "arrested decay". The inhabitant of this room has long gone... But where did this inhabitant go? Outside, to the new world? ;)

Standard color picture of a bedroom in Bodie. Used Nik Color FX Pro to make a b/w layer, then mixed this in with the original shot to take out most of the color. Selected the window panes and added rendered clouds and lens flare effects for the other-worldly look out the window.

Will be interested to hear your comments!

Really great thinking OOTB! I like the lens flare it adds a bit of "other-worldly" look as you were going for.Really nice blue used for the sky.I bet this would also look cool with a black sky full of stars ,you could even add a some planets. Or another scene with some old guy sitting at a table playing cards in a smoke filled room. The possibilities are endless! See you got me thinking!! Very nicely done.

Absolutely gorgeous image. My personal taste is for the color in the window, but I'm sure that it would work either way.

Dave, I like the blue sky in the window also. I was just trying to let him see all the possibilities for this look.:)

I understand completely and couldn't agree more. I would be really cool to see it both ways.

Really well done Kerry. The "window" does have so many possibilities. Love your B and W with a hint of colour. Bodie sounds like a really cool place!

Here's a little bit different idea, courtesy of Denise. No planets, but the black sky full of stars gives it a nice look. The original of the space scene is very colorful, but I took all the color out except for cyan, which left only those couple of stars with color.

Window content courtesy of NASA Spitzer Space Telescope. :) All NASA, ESA, and Hubble Telescope images on the web are public domain as long as the source is credited. There are some amazing images on those sites...

Kerry, I can't wait to get an image of a window with a unique setting and use it as sort of a picture frame to frame out different scenes-Thanks for the great idea!!! After seeing this I do like your orig. better. But I do like this also.
