This one belongs to my first day with nikkor 80-400 VR. You all know this is a slow focusing lens, but..., I really love the freedom to walk, handhelding, and the quality of this lens. Sure, in the future probably I'll buy one of those big tele (I think the 500 f4 VR will be my choice), but I must say I am quite satisfied with it....

As I processed this time ago, I feel fine to critique it. I think it's oversharpened, and the right eye is overexposed, I don't know why did I choose such a slow speed, though I guess I was shooting in P mode. Any way the eyes expression is fine.....

Hi Jose - love the in your face crop - and those eyes.
The mixed light was your main problem here with the right side being much brighter.

    Was this a captive bird?

Agree with assessment Jose ISO wise remember your camera performs well, no need to keep it that low.

That is a fine lens and capable of capturing action just need to pre focus. Also remember it does give you freedom but at the long end with the crop factor you are in tripod territory !!!

Lance, it's 180mm (I was standing about 3 meters from that face) , so it was death or captive :-)
    Sorry I didn't mention it!

Jose, like the in your face look. Agree with your self-critique. It always nice to look back at old images and see how much you've improved.
