Not this weeks theme, but wanted to share. This was a normal mum shot with black backround. I cropped it down to a psuedo pano ;) then did normal adjustments of brightness/contrast. i then added a poster edge filter, and fiddled with those settings till it felt good to me. The last step was to sample a color from the petals and set that as my foreground did a minimal add canvas (.03 to each dimension, h&w) and set the foreground color as the color for that border. After previewing the post, I see that the border is barely visible, but looks great on the grey backround of lightroom.:( Glad to hear all thoughts.
Dave, I like it alot! The crop seems to fit the curve of the mum nicely and the black BG is great!! I can see your slight border and think its nice any larger may draw your eye. The only thing I would do if it were mine is clone the slight halo around mum. Very well thought out and executed!!!! A real eye-catcher!
Thanks Harold and Denise. I'll put some work into that halo. It seems more visible here than on the original. Wonder if that's from the downsizing. Still so much to learn.
Wouldn't have thought about the pano crop, radical and works !!! .... btw don't think the halo is from downsizing .. should be easy getting rid off Just select by color and darken. Neat image !!!!!
Stark image Dave, really like your treatment and took me a while but I see your faint yellow line around the edge:) The black really sets the whole image off.
