    Default Kestrel on Post

Patience and slow/no movement around birds can be rewarding ... the equipment helps too! :)

Shot this Kestrel with my Canon MkIII, 400 5.6 lens at 1/1600, f8, ISO 400, handheld on bushhawk.

    Thanks for looking :)

    Hello, Bill:
Incredible image! You controlled the highlights very well; the background is perfect; the whole bird is very sharp, but not over the top; and I like the crop. I would probably try to burn in the stump a bit to bring out some detail and darken it a little. Not sure how much lattitude you have to do that, though.

    Congratulations!

Nice job Bill! I like the comp just like it is, but might want to take care of the left side of the stump like the others have said. Their numbers are really down in my area.... I put quite a few miles on today and saw one on a power line. Congrats!

Excellent details and head pose. I have to agree about the stump.

Lovely pose and perfect plumage, as well as head angle. I feel a bit of a crop from the right and top would be needed, but that's my taste. Really fab image Bill! :)
