    Default Horned Grebe, breeding plumage

    Went out last weekend for my first opportunity to photograph horned grebes in full breeding plumage. They are wonderful birds to photograph. I hope I did it justice.

    Tim:

    Lovely bird, great colors, nice exposure.

    Although I like the colors in the background, the bright highlights, esp. above the birds head tends to distract me. If you can tone them down, it would improve the image for me.

    We don't have these fellows in Michigan, so appreciate seeing it!

    I like the soft light, composition and details. The BG competes a bit with the subject. Was a lower angle possible?

    The BG is very interesting, but agree with Randy and Axel that it competes with subject
    Great bird though!

    I'd say you did it justice Tim, great detail in the blacks, that is a funky bg. Where did you get this?

    Great looking Grebe, while I also vote for a less distracting background, I also think the HA is not quite ideal. :) Thanks for sharing this gorgeous species.
