Western Grebe
Shot yesterday at the Moss Landing marina...
Was just driving by on my way back from Morro Bay went I spotted half a dozen grebes sleeping next to the boats. Thankfully a couple of them went fishing :-)
Background was generally awful but going way way down allowed to keep it OOF.
Added a bit of canvas at the top to balance the composition better.

Stunning capture, with perfect head angle and detail in the eye. The pastel colors of the BG are the ideal backdrop for the bird. Well done!
Superb composition, light, low angle, eye contact and Bg. I love everything on this image. Excelent!!
Very nice comp and details! I can't wait to see them when they begin "rushing".
Superb! Great detail, exposure, light, colors, BG, all looks fantastic to me!
This is very nice. Lovely details and excellent low angle. Very sharp and the eye is terrific!
I can only praise this image, really, really appealing to me. I am glad you stopped and took the effort then shared it here.
Lovely portrait - excellent detail and exposure control.
