    I'm getting a little self conscious posting here now that I know some of the basics especially with all the great shots posted here. It's a good self conscious and I really appreciate the feedback. Makes me stop and think out there.

    Well tried to follow some of the basics composition wise. Not sure about the DOF but think it works here.

    Well, at 1.400 you really didn't have to much room to spare for DOF unless you increased your ISO to 400 or 500, not too good a thing for the 50D. The composition looks fine to me, the peanuts are on a rule of thirds placement, I'd only have put the bird a little higher up.

    I like the soft light, position of the bird in the frame and BG. The 'perch' is not ideal. If there are no bushes nearby you could try to set up a good-looking branch near your feeder. Keep them coming!
