I grabbed the camera when flocks of Cedar Waxwings were swarming over the backyard. They decided that this dead tree was the best home for the moment. ISO 200, f/5.6, 1/1000 sec, EF100-400mm 5.6L IS USM, 380mm (608mm), Evaluative Metering, Auto Exposure, Auto WB, No Flash. Comments Welcome

HI Richard - record shot of what was happening. as presented I feel that it has a few issues- birds cut off along frame edges and the birds all appear a little dark with no real detail visible.

Hope they stay in your backyard - must be great having that many potential subjects outside your back door.

    :)

    Hi Mr. Waas,
I appreciate what you were trying to do here...agree with Mr. Peters' assessment on the lighting and the cut birds along the edges...looking forward to your next one...

Richard, When I first saw the thumbnail I thought they were leaves on the tree! It's OOTB! I still haven't got a shot of one!

Chuckle, I saw my first cedar waxwings in this area the past weekend. Hope to get some shots of a few myself this upcoming weekend!

Thanks for all the help. I really had no idea what to do with this comp. The light was bad and nothing looked good in the camera to me. Any ideas what to do next time I see such a flock?
