HI Steve - nice action - caught him having his breakfast. Looks like he was a bit worried about you trying to take it :)

Your light is coming from the LHS resulting in the RHS side of your bird being in shadows - best if you can line the sun up behind you and get even lighting on your subject. Not always possible I know.
Could possibly use just a tad of sharpening.

    Keep em coming :)

    Hi Steve Big Warm Welcome

Can only add that I would increase the ISO No need to go that low? Higher shutter speeds will help you make sharper images !!! ... might also move the bird right a bit to have less from from tail to side than head to side of frame !!! Excellent image !!!

Lance--Thank you so much for the suggestion--my back was to the ocean and the sun as you correctly stated was just about over my left shoulder. These guys spook pretty easy so I had to walk up on him and take a quick shot before he took flight. I have Photoshop Elements 6 and was afraid to sharpen more than I did---any suggestions on how much sharpening--what do you look for when you sharpen---Thanks again

Alfred---Thank you and thanks for taking time to critique my photo--I haven't been doing this that long and I posted this because I think to date it's my best capture. Your critical eye as well as Lance's is so well appreciated. I am so eager to learn to take better photo's---THANK YOU again!!!
