I photographed this Easter morning in Cape Coral,FL. As I was leaving I noticed the chick peaking out so I quickly took its picture. I know there is much technically wrong here. I am not sure what I could of done to bring out the chick. It was dark down the hole, The sun was harsh and bouncing off the light dead twigs. I had a better beamer attached, but I think that just put more light reflecting off the dead twigs. But I thought it was a nice shot of their enviornment. John

It is a good little catch John. What I would do is select the entire foreground area and darken it. That may improve the overall aesthetics.

.... would also tighten the image, the action is on the owl. Can't say I've seen one like this before !!!

Didn't say what lens you were using but if you had a BB must have been over 300? For this a shorter lens and flash might have been the key !!

HI John - cool never seen them in the burrow before - I made a couple of changes to try and enhamce it a little ..

Lightened and sharpened the eye's and cropped (Myabe witht he eyes a bit more prominent you wont notice the other stuff so much)
You can do much better with the original file!!

Sorry, I left out the data. It was shot with my Sony A100 with a Sigma 50-500 lense f/22, 1/125, +0.7ev, ISO 400, 330mm.
