This image was captured at 7.03 AM on April 09, 2009 while on an excursion on the Alafia Banks in Florida with James Shadle on the Hoopie Deux.
During a brief break in the bird activity, the reflection of mangroves caught my attention. I composed the image with this vertical presentation in mind. I place the intersection of the mangroves and its’ reflection in the center in an effort to create as much symmetry as possible. I would have liked for a true mirrored imaged but felt that the reflection was clear enough that for this to work. I rotated the horizontal image into a vertical during the conversion of the RAW file in ACR and imported then into CS3 (full frame). Once in CS3 I ran shadow/Highlights, adjusted slightly with levels, and ran noise reduction using the Topaz Denoiser plugin. I resized/sharpened and posted.
Thanks for reviewing and special thanks for any comments/critiques.
Phil, Really great eye for this! Love the effect of the vertical crop-it's OOTB terrific! I see a couple of straight lines toward the center(not the one straight down the middle-but the one on the right middle bottom) that I would probably carefully clone if it were mine so that you couldn't see the seams.Great job on this and thankyou for sharing your info-it's most helpful!!
