    Default Female mallard stretching her wings


    Taken this past weekend. The ice has just left the pond, and you can see the some snow left over on the banks in the background.

    D300
    300mm AF-S f4 with 1.7X Nikkor teleconverter
    f8
    1/500 sec
    ISO 500
    0 EV
    ETTR
    Camera on tripod sitting just a few inches off the water.
    Post Processing in NX2. Slight crop to level image.

    and yes, my bum did get wet and cold. :p

    Perfect timing on your part, and lucky to have the wind in your favor. Very nice soft light. I may burn the snow since it takes away from the duck.
