    took this shot on my local moor,in disused quarry,they have just arrived back in this country to breed.cannon 40d,400mm lens with 1 1/4x ex,giving me 560mm,1/640sec,f8.0,800iso.all comments good or bad welcomed.thanks.

    Good looking bird, and a great rock it perched on. Good pose and adequate head angle, and the exposure looks about right - with a few minor and fixable warm spots. Not sure how much of a crop this is, but if the IQ can take I would crop it further. Although the rock is awesome, I would still eliminate about half of it from below, and then trim a bit off the top and left for added balnce to the comp. You could also get rid of some of the OOF grasses, in particular the ones close to the subject. Image seems to suffer from compression artefacts (see posterization in BG). Keep them coming!

    Lovely angle, and I agree with Daniel on the crop.

    Great angle, perch and head angle. I think a tighter crop or a vertical crop might be good. I would also clone out the OOF single blades of grass.

    thanks for all your comments,you are right about the compression artefacts,it was ok on original,then when I uploaded it they apeared.thanks again.
