    Default Assignment SOC

Took this last year. This young wren and its family were amongst the tomato plants in our garden. A while back I had posted another photo of this same wren. Any C&C are welcome!

    Nice shot of the wren.

I would work more on the post processing. The image seems a little dark
    on my monitor.

I would also work on some different cropping choices. The wren is too
centered for me. Since he's looking to our right, I would crop off on the
left of the photo...maybe just to the right of the bird poo (or whatever it
is) on the post. Then clone out whatever is left of the plant near the top
of the image (that one leaf).

I included a real quick redo of what I'm trying to say (without removing the
leaf). I also increased the contrast a tad.

Hi Chris - agree with Dougs assessment and his crop does improve.
Doug did not know this was a SOC assignment - so as posted it is a raw conversion - no work done at this stage.

    Keep them coming :)

    Hi Christopher

I like to have small birds in frame toward one of the corners. In this case would go for upper left. While making the image lock focus and recompose..... makes a huge difference later on. Just takes a little getting used to. Center frame is the last place you want the little guy !!

Exposure wise you did well. I'm not familiar with the metering modes of your camera but normally spot is the one I would stay away from !!!

Thanks guys. When shooting birds, I usually center them to ensure that they end up in focus and then crop in PP to move them off center. Alfred, I know about the spot metering. This was taken before I knew spot metering wasn't the best. Thanks again!
