Default To Blue or Not To Blue

Took a photo of an old school house yesterday and converted it to black & white. Looked okay...but I wanted something more...

I tried Sepia and duotones and tritones and nothing looked quite right. Finally I added a blue filter at 25% and erased it from everywhere but the sky. So, my question is...does it look odd? Silly? Or does it give it a punch? I cannot make up my mind. Let 'er rip...

Did a quadtone and SH. Sort of liked it.

Jackie, I kind of got the same thing when I was playing around...my problem is I don't really like the flatness of the sky once I applied the tones to it. Maybe I'm trying too hard to get the sky to have some kind of luminance to it when it's in b&w.

I'll sleep on it and see what I think in the morning. Thanks for trying!

I'd try to get out some detail out of the shadow areas in the bell and roof. I'd leave the sky white.

I agree with Michael, I think where you've positioned the bell in the frame it becomes a focal point.I like it Jules-I think it's interesting.

Well, I wasn't going to say this but I have a small problem with the bell. If you try to lighten up the image on the inside of the bell area there is what appears to be the shape of a man's face. Seriously. It freaked me out enough that I darkened it and walked away! Yikes!!!
