This is an older slide scan of an image from several years ago, so no detailed exposure information is available. This is a sunrise shot from a blind. I'm on my knees shooting out of a 4" x 4" hole in a solid plywood blind that is a total of four feet tall. My knees and back were killing me, but the experience was worth every second of it. Unfortunately public access is no longer available, only the DNR has access for survey purposes. Thanks for looking, hope you like my image. C and C welcome, I,m here to learn

Great pose, I would blur the BG a bit and sharpen the bird more. If you have, more canvas all around the bird would be good.

Always fun photographing these guys, not a bird you can find many places! I did it on Friday with some success. Its hard for me to pass judgement on a scan as it just doesn't seem to look as good as digital to my eyes.

Looks like some hard light, and blurring the background and adding warmth might help soften the image. I'm going next week to photograph them again. Had a great time last year.

    John,

I have never seen those. We have Greater Sage Hens out here that do a similar strut.

I may be mistaken but though he may have "lech" (strong sexual desire) I think he is drumming on a lek.

I like your image the way it is John without any photoshop wizardry applied. Your dedication is fabulous, and the discomfort surely worth it judging by this result. If anything, a slightly lower angle would have been better. Thanks for sharing.
