This is more about me trying to learn the technique than it being a wonderful image, I am open to and actively seeking ideas.

I played with the perspective tool in CS3 a little, but I have to say it was all trial and error rather than technique.

I was going for the look of the dog stepping through the "window" and everything in front of the vertical plane occupied by the window would be in color while the rest would be B&W

I found that matching that plane was tough though. Plus, do to photographer error (that's me ;) ) the body of the dog didn't have much color in the original anyway compared to the heads so the difference between color and B&W was not very plain to see.

The dog was wearing a bandanna, but I'm not sure that is plain to see and the little piece in front looks odd to me.

I'm looking at getting PhotoImpact and some things from Flaming Pear soon, but I have a lot to learn in the realm of digital art.

All in all, I think I like the first one better for it's impact so I'll try to rework it from the original with a bit more care on a tablet.

    Best,
    jim

    Your technique is improving :)
The bandana would need to be a little bigger and not so bright to blend in.

I found you a similar action for free:

I'm looking for the tutorial I had for doing this, but not found it yet :(

Thanks Fabs. I'll have a look.

    Al,
I think you're right about the bandanna.
